Isle of Man tops medals table at Island Games

The Isle of Man finished the Natwest Island Games in some style yesterday, picking up another haul of medals to finish comfortably atop the medals table.

 

 

The team ended up with a total of 36 golds, 36 silvers and 25 bronzes, nine golds ahead of hosts Bermuda.

 

 

In the tennis yesterday Billy Harris took gold in the men's singles final, beating his Guernsey opponent in straight sets.

 

 

 

 

 

Laura Feely won silver in the women's singles after losing to a Bermudan in the final.

 

 

 

 

 

It was silver too for Karen Faragher and Katie Tinkler in the women's doubles.

 

 

 

 

 

In badminton Ben Li claimed silver after losing to Guernsey in the men's singles final.

 

 

 

 

 

Kim Clague and Cristen Callow picked up gold after beating the Faroe Islands in the women's doubles final.

 

 

 

 

 

In athletics Ryan Fairclough won silver in the 1500m.

 

 

 

 

 

Andrea de Bruin, Hannah Riley, Charlotte Bowden and Bethan Piley won silver in the 4x100m relay.

 

 

 

 

 

Kevin Loundes won the men's half marathon with Ed Gumbley coming third - which also meant gold in the team event.

 

 

 

 

 

Gail Griffiths won silver in the women's half marathon and Hannah Howard bronze - again a team gold overall.

 

 

 

The curtain came down on the games last night with the closing ceremony.
