IoM benefit from Scottish experience

Conclusion of Umbro tournament in Glasgow

The Isle of Man put up a spirited display as they went down 2-1 to hosts Scotland in the Umbro Quadrangular Tournament on Saturday.

Sean Quaye pulled back a goal for the Island in first half injury time after the Manx had been defensively sloppy and gone behind to two quick-fire goals.

Although Paul Jones’ side showed character in the second half they were unable to muster an equaliser and ended the competition pointless.

Northern Ireland were crowned champions on goal difference from Scotland after edging out the Republic of Ireland 2-1.

Island boss Jones said it was a good experience.
