Hockey: Castletown A aim to clinch women's title

Titles and relegations to be decided in several divisions as season nears conclusion

The women's title can be wrapped up in Manx hockey this weekend as Castletown A take on Valkyrs A.

Castletown know victory will be enough to wrap up the premier league crown with a match to spare.

In the men's premier league, Bacchas A secured the title last time out, but they'll be wanting to maintain their 100% record when they face Vikings A.

At the other end of the table, Bacchas B are up against Ramsey in a relegation battle.

There are matters to be settled at both ends of the women's division one table, with Harlequins A needing just a point from their tie with Ramsey A to be crowned champions, while Bacchas C know they need to avoid defeat to Valkyrs B to avoid relegation.

It's a similar situation for the Harlequins A men's team, as they only need to pick up a point against Vikings B to win the men's division one title, while Harlequins B know a loss in their fixture with Vikings C will see them drop down to division two.

An inter-club derby could decide the title in women's division two as Castletown C clash with Castletown D.

The D team had led the league until defeat last weekend allowed the C team to jump ahead, and a win this weekend could put them in a position to wrap up the league title.

Meanwhile in men's division two, Casteltown B know a win over Castletown C will all but secure the title in their division.
