Football: Peel and Braddan could wrap up league titles this weekend

Huge combi showdown between Onchan & Rushen also awaits (Fixtures: 29 Mar)

Peel and Braddan could secure the respective Canada Life Men's Premier League and Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 titles in Manx football this weekend.

In the top flight, westerners Peel will claim the crown if ninth-placed Foxdale - the only team which could still mathematically catch them - fail to win at Rushen United.

Elsewhere, Braddan - having already secured promotion - will scoop top spot in Division 2 provided they avoid defeat at Governors Athletic.

There's also a huge showdown in the hunt for the main prize in Combination One as title contenders Onchan and Rushen United - both on 49 points - meet this weekend in a potentially pivotal battle.

In the premier league, Foxdale - despite being eight places back on Peel in the standings - have five games in hand on the league leaders and could theoretically match their current total.

Also for Foxdale, this weekend will be a repeat of their thrilling Ecap FA Cup semi-final tie at Croit Lowey in which they overcame their upcoming opponents on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time.

Peel's current nearest challengers Corinthians are six points behind with one game of their campaign left and cannot catch the table-toppers having played a game more.

Meanwhile in Division 2, Braddan reside at the summit and nine points ahead of second-placed Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) with three games to go.

'The Swans' secured passage back to the premier league two weeks ago.

In Combination One, Onchan have the same points total at the top but with Onchan ahead on goal difference and having played a game less than the southern side so far.

Defending champions Ramsey in third do still have an outside chance of catching the top two but currently trail them both by five points.
