Ravens looking to bounce back from heavy loss last weekend

Having suffered their joint-heaviest defeat of the season last weekend, FC Isle of Man face a potentially tough task to get back to winning ways in the NWCFL Premier Division this weekend.

After back-to-back games on the road, FC Isle of Man host current play-off contenders, Irlam at The Bowl in Douglas on Saturday night (6 December).

Having conceded five at Prestwich Heys six days ago, an elusive home win for 'The Ravens' could see them restore an eight-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

However, they'll face a visiting side that will start the weekend just three points outside the top five and comfortably beat the Islanders in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

FC Isle of Man's 5-0 hammering at Prestwich Heys last Saturday (29 November) was only the second time they've lost by a five-goal margin this season, the other coming at Burscough in September by the same scoreline.

What's more, the Manx side's last encounter with Irlam early on in the current season on 12 August saw them fall to a comprehensive 4-0 loss at The Silver Street Stadium.

Meanwhile, John Main's Irlam head to the Island this weekend not only just three points outside the play-offs but with games in hand on four of the five teams above them.

They themselves, though also head into Saturday hoping to bounce back from disappointment last time out following a 4-2 defeat at home to Chadderton on Tuesday this week (2 December).

FC Isle of Man - who have just the one home victory so far this season - are yet to taste defeat at The Bowl against Irlam, including two wins and two draws.

FC Isle of Man vs Irlam takes place at The Bowl this Saturday (6 December), kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary on our DAB and AM1368 channels.
