Ravens to face former NPL side in first away game of season

After victory on the opening day of the new NWCFL Premier Division season last weekend, FC Isle of Man will be hunting more points when they travel to face Ramsbottom United this evening (2 August).

The Ravens travel to Lancashire after battling to a 2-0 win over Wythenshawe Town last Saturday (29 July) with their opponents tonight hoping to avenge defeat four days ago.

Ramsbottom United - who were relegated from the Northern Premier League West last season - suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to newly-promoted Wythenshawe FC in their first outing of the new campaign.

FC Isle of Man manager, Paul Jones, believes their opposition tonight will come out fighting and his squad will need to be fully focused to pick up points tonight whilst also reflecting on his side's opening day win last weekend:

With a quick turnaround from their first competitive outing four days ago, Paul Jones has taken the opportunity to rotate his squad for the trip to the Harry Williams Riverside Ground tonight.

Two changes are made to the squad that beat Wythenshawe Town - the duo coming in are FC Isle of Man's top scorer from last season, Jack McVey, along with promising young midfielder Tiernan Garvey with both in contention to make their first appearances of the new campaign.

FC Isle of Man's goalscorers from last time out - Sean Doyle and Dean Leece - are among the players retaining their places for tonight as well as goalkeeper Adam Killey who made his competitive debut for the club last Saturday, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Making way this time around are Sam Gelling, Jamie Corlett, Joe Walters and Luke Murray as the Ravens take a squad of 14 for the trip as opposed to the full quota of 16 available to them in their last match.

Despite being sent off for two bookable offences in last weekend's victory, Dean Pinnington is available and part of the squad to face Ramsbottom United - Pinnington will serve his one-match ban this coming Saturday (5 August) when FC Isle of Man face Litherland REMYCA.
