Road racer aims to be fit following rally crash

Michael Dunlop will be at the Southern 100 next month.

The three-time Southern 100 solo champion (in 2011, 2012 and 2016) has contacted Race Secretary George Peach to confirm his arrival on the Sunday, prior to the practice sessions starting on the Monday evening.

Dunlop also confirmed he has his BMW Superbike and Honda Supersport machines being set up for the races on the 4.25-mile Billown Course.

He's withdrawn from the Pikes Peak Hillclimb after being injured in the Donegal Rally recently.

Dunlop says he wants to rest and get back to full fitness, with the aim of regaining the solo championship title from the man who's won it in the last two years - Dean Harrison.
