Demolition derby for Falcons

Falcons made history in Manx hockey on Saturday.

They demolished Phoenix A 10-0 in the first ever game to be played in the newly formed Mixed Premier Division.

Hat-tricks from Connor Byrne and Dave Millward, two from Karen Faragher and one apiece from Andy and Simon Harding, ensured a rout in one of only seven games to survive the weather.

Elsewhere, in Division One, Paul Kelly was the star of the show with a hat-trick as Celts defeated Valkyrs B 3-1 - Mark Moyer their scorer - while Saxons edged a seven goal thriller against Saracens.

Juan Corlett (two), Richard Gelder and Chrstian Forbes were the Saxons’ scorers with Carly Singer, Karen Gurney and Steve Jackson on target for Saracens.

In Division Two, Ramsey Ravens were 4-1 winners over Cammags, for whom Katie Tinkler scored, while Harlequins crushed Valkyrs D 11-1.

Pete Godwin hit five. There were doubles from Peter Nuttall and Peter Foxon, while Stuart Gell and Tim Sotherby were the other Quins’ marksmen.

Graham Shimmin was the Valkyrs’ scorer.

Paul Wiseman netted four and Henry Foy struck a hat-trick as Southerners hit Saracens B for 13 without reply.

Hannah Leece was on target twice with Ciaran Stephens, Emma Gill, David Quayle and Simon Pythian netting the others.

John Bateson hit a hat-trick as Kestrels thrashed Ramsey Roadrunners 5-1.

Ian Perry and Bryan Coombes scored the other goals with Alistair Trace getting the Roadrunners’ consolation.

In the remaining game, Cushags were 4-1 winners over Bacchas E.
