Darts: Positives for IoM on WDF Europe Cup day two

Margaret Kelly reaches last-16 as Island players show quality

The Isle of Man darts teams had much more positives to take on day two of the WDF Europe Cup in Slovakia yesterday (26 September).

After the team events on Wednesday, Thursday afternoon at the X-BIONIC SPHERE in Samorin saw the start of both the men's pairs and ladies singles competitions.

In the ladies singles, Margaret Kelly was the standout performer for the Isle of Man making it all the way to the last-16 before defeat to Scotland's Lorraine Hyde.

Nikki Bardsley got as far as the Last-32 before losing out 4-1 to Ireland's Robin Byrne.

Sarah Taylor exited in the first round with a narrow 4-3 loss to Ivanina Ivanona of Bulgaria with Jessica Corlett also out at the same stage after losing 4-2 to Tamara Carcelen on Spain

In the men's pairs, Aaron Bradley and Robert Nelson made an impressive start to reach the Round-of-32 before they were knocked out by Austria's Patrick Tringler and Andreas Kumpan.

The other duo of John Halsall and Alan Young were knocked out in the first round by Croatian pair Marko Jancic and Ivica Cavric.

Today (28 September) will see the men's singles and ladies pairs competitions get underway at 1pm and run up to and include the last-16 phases.

Later on from 7.30pm local time will be the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the men's pairs and ladies singles events.
