Cycling: Lizzie Holden in world championship action today

Manx rider in Great Britain squad for elite women's road race

Isle of Man elite cyclist Lizzie Holden will represent Great Britain today (28 September) at this year's UCI Road and Para-Cycling Road World Championships.

The Island competitor is in a six-strong GB squad to take on the elite women's road race in Switzerland.

The 27-year-old will be joined in the team by Anna Henderson, Elinor Barker, Josie Nelson, Claire Steels and Alice Towers.

Starting in Uster, and finishing in Zurich, the race is expected to get underway at around 11.45am UK time.

Holden's last international event was on 18 September with UAE Team ADQ at the St Feuillien Grand Prix de Wallonie in Belgium one-day race where she finished 54th overall.

Ten days previous to that was her most recent appearance in the Women's WorldTour at the Tour de Romandie Feminin - also in Switzerland - where she finished 22nd in the points classification.
