Cycling: Isle of Man Youth and Junior Tour returns this weekend

It's considered the most prestigious event for young cyclists in Britain

One of the major youth cycling events for British riders is set to return to the Isle of Man this weekend.

The 2023 Isle of Man Youth and Junior Tour is set to take place from tomorrow (28 April) until Sunday (30 April).

The three-day competition is a competitive stage race for Junior and Youth A-E cyclists and is part of the British Cycling Junior National Road Series and Youth National Circuit Series.

Locally, it's been the training ground for some of the Isle of Man's elite competitors over the years including joint all-time Tour de France stage winner, Mark Cavendish, and Olympic Gold Medallist, Peter Kennaugh, Lizzie Holden and Anna Christian among others.

Isle of Man cycling coach, Rob Holden, explains why it may be considered by some to be one of the most highly-regarded events on the junior calendar:

The first stage of the tour gets underway at 6pm on Friday, 28 April, with a 1.2km time trial contest along Douglas Promenade.

Meanwhile, the second and third stages on Saturday and Sunday (29-30 April) will involve road circuit events at Ellerslie and Jurby which require road closures.

Information on those road closures and start times each day is available HERE.
