Cycling: Hat-trick of top ten finishes for CC IoM

Manx riders put in strong performances in Lancaster and Wrexham

Cycling Club Isle of Man secured a hat-trick of top-ten finishes across two events over the weekend.

The Manx team fielded Niall Quiggin and Jamie Fletcher across the Salty Summer criterium series in Lancaster on Saturday (27 May) and the Steve Jones Memorial race on the Sunday (28 May).

Quiggin was a solo competitor in the first of those competing in the top-level category of the competition - despite not being able to catch the final breakaway, Quiggin came home in ninth to claim his first national points of the season.

Meanwhile, Quiggin and Fletcher both took part in the 60-mile Sunday event in Wrexham.

Quiggin attempted an early breakaway but was caught after 25 minutes before both he and Fletcher launched a series of attacks.

A high-paced race meant the peloton was split in half by the finishing slope with both Quiggin and Fletcher hanging in to both finish inside the top ten.
