Christie first across line for Manx side on another testing outing

Cycling Club Isle of Man retained their place in the top ten of the team classification after another challenging stage on day two of this year's Ras Tailteann.

The team's guest rider, Marcus Christie, was their highest finisher in 45th amid the final sprint to the finish line of around 60 riders come the end of the 154.5km route from Birr to Ennis.

Teammates Corrin Leeming, Jamie Fletcher and Mark Horsthuis came home in the second group following the frontrunners two minutes after the first across the line.

Leeming had been part of the leading group before a mechanical issue forced him to drop back - meanwhile, fellow CC Isle of Man competitor Michael Faid also battled well to finish within the time cut for the stage.

Whilst the Manx side remain in the top ten in the international team standings, Leeming drops to 18th in the Under-23's after the challenges of Thursday's contest.

Stage three today (19 May) will involve a 149.3km route from Ennis to Castlebar.
