Manx Missile one of four Island competitors involved in Belgium event
Mark Cavendish has secured his first podium finish for Astana Qazaqstan whilst competing in Belgium today (5 April).
The Manx Missile finished third in the Schedlerprijs men's race this afternoon which fellow Manx cyclist Sam Brand also took part in for Team Novo Nordisk.
The race was won by Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Deceuninck with Sam Welsford of Team DSM finishing third.
It was also a good day for fellow Island competitors Becky Storrie and Lizzie Holden in the earlier women's race for Team DSM and UAE Team ADQ respectively.
Both their teams managed to get their sprinters onto the podium, with Team DSM's Charlotte Kool finishing second and Chiara Consonni of UAE Team ADQ finishing third.
