Cronkbourne confirm Premiership second place

Cronkbourne clinched second place in the Standard Bank Premiership after a cliff-hanger finish at Tromode yesterday.

Crosby had made a solid 180 for 7 and the Douglas team won the match with one over to go and just one wicket left.

Top scorers for Crosby were Simon Watson with 40 and Jacob Hicklin who cracked a vigorous 37 not out.

Jeff Levin made 34 for Cronkbourne and Richard Sissons 38.

Champions St John’s ended their league programme in style with a 110 run win against Castletown.

The top four batsmen for the Saints all excelled; Nick Hawke hit 41, Danny Hawke 47, Greg Hake 50 and Phil Littlejohns 57 not out.

St John’s scored 246 for 5 and despite 51 from Christian Steriopulos the southerners were shot out for 136.

Ramsey returned to winning ways with a big win over Loaghtyn as Brian Arnold claimed four wickets and Ken Harding three as Loaghtyn were shot out for 59.

The northerners then knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket.
