Boxing: Mathew Rennie to face former Olympian tonight

Four-round bout less than a month before title fight at Wembley Arena

Professional boxer Mathew Rennie faces a tricky test in the ring tonight (15 November) just a few weeks before he fights for a national title.

The undefeated Manxman - whose record stands at 13 wins and one draw in the pro ranks - will face former Olympian Serge Ambomo at the Olympia in Liverpool.

The four-round showdown comes shortly before the Island-born fighter heads to Wembley Arena to face Sean Noakes for the English Welterweight Title on 7 December.

'Magic' Rennie admits tonight's bout has its risks but told Manx Radio he always welcomes the challenge of facing tough opponents, vowing not to show complacency:

The last time Rennie was in action was in July when he extended his unbeaten pro record with a points win over Ukrainian competitor Mykhailo Sovtus at Grand Central Hall in Liverpool.

Since then there's also been changes behind-the-scenes for Rennie who in late October switched to Warren Boxing Management from VIP Boxing Promotions.

The exact time of tonight's bout between Rennie and Ambomo is still to be confirmed.
