Bowls: Isle of Man contesting European Championships

Manx squad one of 18 nations at event in Scotland this week

The Isle of Man lawn bowls squad begins its campaign at the 2024 European Championships in Scotland today (3 September).

A ten-strong Manx team is competing in all formats at the event being held at the National Centre for Bowling in Ayr until Sunday (8 September).

The Isle of Man is one of 18 nations taking part in the tournament which also includes fellow Island nations Jersey, Guernsey and the Falkland Islands.

Representing the Manx flag in the singles competitions will be John Kewley and Janice Pilling in the men's and women's events respectively.

Pilling joins Karen Slack in the women's pairs with Trevor Quayle and Clive McGreal in the men's pairs.

When it comes to the triples competitions - Kewley is part of the men's lineup alongside David Slack and Michael Collister; the women's section will include the trio of Marilyn Ellison, Bernice McGreal and Dee Lewis.

Finally in the fours it'll be Slack, Quayle, Collister and C.McGreal taking part in the men's tournament and Slack, Ellison, B.McGreal and Lewis in the women's event.

Today's opening day is featuring the men's pairs, men's triples, women's singles and women's fours.
