Athletics: Three wins from three for Leeming

Atherton still leads the way in women's half-marathon standings

Corrin Leeming won his third race in a row during the latest contest in the No Rest For The Wicked series on Tuesday (16 August).

The latest round of the event saw competitors take part in the Northern AC 10k, with Leeming crossing the line in a time of 33 minutes 38 seconds.

Nhlanhla Nzama came in a close second in 34 minutes 33 seconds whilst there was an impressive performance from 15-year-old Lucas Stennett on his 10k debut who came home in third posting a time of 35 minutes and three seconds.

Meanwhile, Becci Pate secured first place in the women's race in 41 minutes 35 seconds, whilst current leader in the women's standings, Dawn Atherton followed in second in 42 minutes 39 seconds and Joanna Schade claiming third in 43 minutes 35 seconds.

Leeming continues to lead the way in the men's half-marathon standings on two hours three minutes and 37 seconds with Nzama following in second on two hours 13 minutes 16 seconds.

Atherton remains in top spot in the women's half-marathon rankings on two hours 41 minutes and 18 seconds with Schade in second on two hours 48 minutes and 48 seconds.

In the marathon league, Mike Garrett - who finished seventh overall in last night's contest - leads the men's class on three hours 54 minutes and 22 seconds.

Meanwhile, Jayne Farquhar is on top in the women's marathon standings on five hours 44 minutes and 45 seconds.

The next run in the series takes place this evening (17 August) with The Killer Mile, organised by Manx Fell Runners.
