Athletics: Eight Manx competitors heading to Junior International

They'll be part of 'Island Select' squad competing in Cardiff

A selection of young Manx athletes will get a shot at competing at a new international competition this coming weekend.

Eight Under-20 competitors from the Isle of Man will travel to Cardiff to take part in the 2023 Welsh Athletics U20 International at the Cardiff International Sports Campus on Saturday (26 August).

The Isle of Man participants will be Ben Sinclair, Lucy Ormsby, Aimee Christian, Tegan Thompson, Carla Teece, Seb Sgouraditis, Mia Dunwell and Cai Lewis.

They will form part of what is known as the 'Island Select' squad which will be made up of 25 athletes in total from the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey.

The squad will be managed by Petra Atchison, who was athletics team manager for the Isle of Man at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey.

Up against the Island Select side will be representatives from England U18s, England U20s, Northern Ireland U20s, Scotland U20, Welsh U20's and Welsh schools.
