ATHLETICS: Burman battles blustery conditions to win men's Trail Run

Winning performance by Atherton in women's 10k

Athletes battled the weather at the weekend to take on the Western AC Trail Run.

The blustery conditions didn't put off Mark Burman who dominated the men's race in a cracking time of 33 minutes 54 seconds.

Gary Kelly came in second and Paul Jennings third.

Dawn Atherton won the women's race and came 7th overall in a time of 4 minutes 28 seconds.

Taking second was Katie Lawrence and Jayne Farquhar claimed the third spot.

Off Island, local race walkers were in action at a meeting in Dublin.

Erika Kelly, Neil Wade, Tom Partington and Mia Dunwell all made the trip to St Anne’s Park for the event, which is the opening leg of the World Race Walking Tour.

Kelly, Wade, and Partington all contested in the 20k event.

Meanwhile, Dunwell competed in the 10k.

Results to follow.
