ACU: New TT Chief Medical Officer will be appointed

The two doctors responsible for running medical services at this year's TT will not be involved in next year's event.

However, Chief Medical Officer Dr Heike Romer and Medical Director Dr David Stevens will continue their association with the 2011 Manx Grand Prix.

It had been suggested event organisers ACU Events had decided to have no Chief Medical Officer because of ‘severe budgetary pressure’.

However, ACU Events chairman, Jim Parker, says there will be a Chief Medical Officer appointed for next year’s TT and claims Dr David Stevens was offered the position but declined.

Mr Parker also says a review of operating procedures is not driven by financial factors but to achieve best practice.

Discussions with Nobles Hospital to ensure they support a revised structure and services are ongoing.

ACU Events is thanking Dr Stevens and Motorsport Medical Services for their work.
