Monday signals start of week-long army recruitment drive

Career opportunities in the armed forces will be promoted across the Isle of Man this week.

The British Army is holding a recruitment drive from today until August 1.

Local units will be involved through the week in an attempt to drum up numbers.

Infantry, engineering, artillery, logistics and medical roles will all be highlighted in a whole host of events taking place over the next seven days.

Members of the Isle of Man Army Reserve will be in Castletown, Port Erin, Ramsey, Peel, Onchan and Douglas tomorrow (TUESDAY) and Wednesday to tell the public about the some 200 plus different roles offered in the British Army.

There'll also be a drill night at the Army Reserve Centre in Lord Street, Douglas, where people interested can speak directly to local soldiers.

Seven different Reserve units are involved throughout the week as they outline the travel opportunities and financial benefits of a career in the Army.

The week will culminate in a display by the Red Devils on Sunday at 7pm, at the war memorial in Douglas.
