Yellow weather warning for the Island today

Sites closed and ferries cancelled as gales approach

Sites are remaining closed and boats cancelled as the Island is hit by adverse weather conditions.

The met office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain, gales and coastal overtopping.

This morning's 8:45 sailing to Heysham and afternoon return have been cancelled.

Tonight's 7:45 journey to Heysham and overnight return are subject to possible disruption or cancellation.

Those concerned about their booking is urged to contact the Steam Packet Reservation Team on 661661.

Meanwhile, due to the Ben staying in Douglas last night and no replacement aircraft being available, GE White say today's newspapers won't be in shops until tomorrow morning.

No international post

Due to the mail plane and boat being cancelled due to the current weather conditions, no international post will be delivered today.

The Isle of Man Post Office has apologised for the delay.

Local-to-local mail will be unaffected, though.

Those with specific enquiries are urged to contact Post Office customer services on 664664.

Site closures

Elsewhere, the Southern Civic Amenity site in Port St Mary will remain closed this morning due to the weather conditions.

However, the site manager says they'll review the situation at midday.

And, the Curraghs Wildlife Park is also going to remain closed for all of today.

Staff say the windy conditions mean the park isn't safe for visitors.

Sport

All of today's Hockey matches have been called off, with the fixtures to be rearranged at a later date.

We'll keep this story updated as the day goes on, in the meantime you can find a detailed weather report here.
