World gas prices 'absolutely stratospheric' says MU CEO

Manx Utilities given no choice but to increase prices

Minimising the impact on customers has been key focus for Manx Utilities during global rise in gas prices.

That's according to the company's chief executive who gave evidence to Tynwald's Public Accounts Committee.

He said that gas prices have generally been stable for the past 10 years but current circumstances have forced the company to put up its prices.

Whilst giving evidence to the committee Philip King was asked about the impact the global increase has had on the Manx company:

Earlier this week Treasury set out a package of support in an extraordinary sitting of Tynwald.

Members of the court unanimously voted in favour - despite numerous MHKs voicing their concerns.
