Storm water storage tank being installed at Old Noble's Hospital

Work is underway to reduce the future flood risk on Peel Road and the Hills Meadow Industrial Estate.

Manx Utilities is installing an underground storm water storage tank at the Old Noble's Hospital car park, which is due to be completed by May next year.

This work is the first in a number of projects planned by Manx Utilities to cut the chance of flooding in the Island's capital.

Extensive feasibility studies are being carried out to inform future works around the River Glass, River Dhoo and Middle River.

The authority is also working with the Department of Infrastructure on the design phase of the new Pulrose Bridge, ensuring flood considerations are taken into account there, while work is also planned around the NSC to improve water flow along that stretch of the River Glass.

However, Manx Utilities warns the study is a huge undertaking which will involve several phases of planning, financing and construction, with some of the more complex projects taking up to five years to complete.
