Women trail men in driving tests

Pass rate rises - and bikers lead the way!

More people are passing their driving tests – but men are performing significantly better than women, according to a new government report.

The Cabinet Office’s latest publication, The Isle of Man in Numbers, shows the pass rate at Tromode’s test centre has been rising steadily over the past ten years.

In 2006, 41 per cent of men and 33 per cent of women tore up their L-plates – while in 2015 that figure had risen to 49 per cent for men and 40 per cent for women.

And the statistics show it’s bikers who are showing the most improvement – 64 per cent passed their test last year, compared to just 46 per cent in 2004.
