Women await questioning over drugs find

Detectives in the Isle of Man are due to question two women arrested today (23 September) in connection with a drugs seizure totalling  around £170,000.

The pair aged 24 and 27, both from Liverpool, were detained in an early morning raid on a hotel in Douglas, in which their vehicle was searched.

Officers moved in at around 6.30 am as part of Operation Ring of Steel, a joint strategy to disrupt the importation of controlled drugs to the Isle of Man involving the constabulary's Pro Active Team, customs and excise officers and the police dog unit.

What officers describe as a 'substantial' haul of drugs - cannabis resin worth around £108,000 and cocaine valued at £62,000 - was recovered.

The two women under arrest are being held at police headquarters.

Detectives are due to release more details on the operation later.
