What can the Victorians do for us?

The retiring honorary planning officer for a local countryside pressure group says the Island might learn a lot from the Victorian approach to tourism.

Ian Bleasdale is stepping down from the Society for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside.

He was originally recruited by Marge Joughin and persuaded to take on the role.

He says if global warming sees a fresh flood of tourists here, we could take a lesson or two from the original tourism boom (audio file attached):
