Warning over social media rental scam

'If it looks to good to be true, it's probably a scam'

Police are warning of a property rental scam doing the rounds on Facebook.

The Isle of Man Constabulary says potential renters are being asked to pay up front for a property that doesn't exist, with scammers even providing official documents to make the deal look more legitimate.

Anyone looking to rent an apartment is urged not to pay any money upfront before viewing the property or confirming that the property exists and is up for rent.

Officers say if it seems too good to be true, or you feel that you are getting pushed into paying money prior to a viewing, then it is likely a scam.
