Survey shows growing appeal to overseas markets

The Isle of Man welcomed more than 329,000 visitors in 2024, with tourism contributing over £212 million to the economy, according to figures released by the Isle of Man Government.

Data from the Isle of Man Passenger Survey, carried out by independent consultants Tourism South East, shows a total of 307,934 business and leisure visitors and 21,679 cruise passengers visited the Island last year.

Overall visitor expenditure was estimated at £210.16 million, with cruise tourism contributing a further £1.88 million.

The average spend per visitor was £663, with an average stay of just over five nights.

More than 1.6 million bed nights were recorded, with nearly two-thirds of visitors staying in paid accommodation.

Holidaymakers made up the largest share at 39.9 percent, followed by those visiting friends and relatives, and business travellers.

International interest also grew, with 12.5 percent of visitors coming from overseas.

Visitor satisfaction remained high, with nearly 99 percent saying their trip met or exceeded expectations.

Popular activities included walking and outdoor pursuits, heritage site visits, and motorsport events such as the TT, Southern 100, and Manx Grand Prix.

Visit Isle of Man says the results support its long-term strategy to build a sustainable and high-quality visitor economy through year-round tourism, innovation, and enhancing the Island’s appeal.
