Visitor admits giving false information to police

Man from Wales to be sentenced next month

A man from Wales has admitted giving police fake details when arriving on the Isle of Man last week.

Fifty-nine-year-old Richard Powell pleaded guilty to providing false information after travelling to the Island by private plane.

He arrived after new laws came into force, meaning those coming to the Island must self-isolate for 14 days to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

His advocate described the incident as a 'moment of madness', after Powell gave a false name, address, date of birth and telephone number on his landing card.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes remanded him in custody until his sentencing hearing on 23 April.
