Vet makes 'difficult decision' to temporarily suspend his services on Island

Senior surgeon writes heartfelt letter to clients saying he needs to take 'step back'

A vet on the Isle of Man says he’s made the ‘difficult decision’ to temporarily suspend his services because he can ‘no longer provide the level of care’ that pets deserve.

Lukasz Kuberka is the owner of Medicor Veterinary Practice which is based in St Johns.

In a heartfelt letter to his clients, which has been posted on social media, he says he’s made the decision with a ‘heavy heart’ due to personal circumstances.

Mr Kuberka writes: “Veterinary medicine is my passion and I have always strived to give my best care to your beloved pets.

“However the last two years have been incredibly taught for me and despite doing my best to remain strong I have reached the point where I can no longer provide the level of care that your pets deserve.

“Veterinary medicine is an emotionally and mentally demanding profession requiring full focus and dedication.

“Right now I need to take a step back and regain that focus and ensure that when I return I can give my best to my patients.”

He has apologised to any clients who have been ‘disappointed’ by his service during this time.

The team at Medicor, who he describes as his ‘rock’, will continue to operate the practice.

They say he will be honouring appointments already booked but will not be taking on new clients.

“I have always given my best but sometimes, as human beings, we face challenges that require us to step back and regroup.” Lukasz Kuberka

More than 100 people have commented on the vet’s post offering their support and best wishes and sharing their positive experiences of the care he has provided to their pets over the years.
