Home affairs report aimed at preventing future tragedies

Home Affairs chiefs believe a damning report into the Island's parole system will help prevent future tragedies at the hands of reoffending prisoners.

Tynwald yesterday (tue) received the findings of the Karran inquiry into the release of St John's man Donovan Kitching in 2014 - who three weeks later went on to kill a woman by dangerous driving.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle called the failings leading up to the tragedy 'devastating'.

A number of recommendations surrounding staff communication, release conditions and recall powers have already been implemented.
