Government follows UK's JCVI guidance
Young people living with vulnerable adults will be prioritised for a Covid-19 vaccine in line with new UK guidance.
It's for those living with people who have weakened immune systems.
The guidance is taken from the UK's Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisations, known as the JCVI.
It applies to conditions such as blood cancer, HIV and people on immunosuppressive treatment, including chemotherapy.
The vaccination programme has prioritised such adults, but it hasn't been extended to those living in the same household until now.
Government says the move is based on 'evidence that susceptibility to infection is reduced in those who have been vaccinated'.
People that fit this criteria are being asked to contact 111 and identify themselves, even if they haven’t received a letter yet, to arrange their vaccination.
