Update expected for Port Erin Dental Practice patients

Manx Care to meet with practice owner today

Manx Care is meeting with the owner of Port Erin Dental Practice today (9 July) to assess the impact of a fire which took place there in the early hours of Monday (8 July).

Fire crews from Rushen, Castletown and Douglas responded to the blaze, which saw flames 'coming out of windows' and cylinders 'exploding'.

As a result of the incident, Manx Care has confirmed all appointments at Port Erin Dental Practice will be cancelled 'for the foreseeable future'.

Manx Radio asked Manx Care to clarify the situation for patients, particularly regarding accessing records.

In a statement, the healthcare body said: "In terms of accessing records for patients at Port Erin Dental Surgery, Manx Care will discuss this with the practice owner in a meeting today (Tuesday 9 July) to see what impact the fire has had, if any, to accessing patient records.

"The expectation would be that the business continuity plan refers to how a Practice would back up records in off-site storage. This will be clarified today."

Manx Radio will publish the expected update from Manx Care regarding patient records as soon as possible.
