Unite 'inundated' with negative responses following 'disgraceful' pay offer

The Public Services Commission says 'there must be pay restraint'

Trade union Unite is describing a series of below-inflation pay offers as 'disgraceful', and says it's been 'inundated' with negative responses from its members.

The Public Services Commission (PSC) is offering public and civil servants a two percent increase for the next three years.

Its Chair Kate Lord-Brennan believes public sector pay is outstripping the private sector, and that 'pay restraint' must be exercised.

Ms Lord-Brennan is refusing to be interviewed.

Unite's Regional Negotiations Officer Debbie Halsall thinks what's on the table is 'nonsense':

Prospect has also described the pay offer as 'unacceptable'.
