Ramsey Bakery closes this weekend
The general secretary of the Manx National Farmers' Union says it's 'very concerning' that the Island will have to rely on UK imports of fresh bread following the closure of Ramsey Bakery.
The company is closing its doors this weekend after 50 years on the Isle of Man, at a time when import costs for the Island's farmers are soaring.
A frozen supply of Ramsey Bakery's product is expected to last a few more weeks, whilst efforts are undertaken to help a Manx bakery develop the means to produce a commercial loaf.
The MNFU's Sarah Comish says it's important to protect the milling wheat sector and make sure there's opportunity for them to sell their product on the Island:
