UK may tighten airport security

There has been no immediate change to the security regime at Isle of Man Airport, in the wake of the attempted bombing of a plane in the United States on Christmas Day.

Airport Director Ann Reynolds is waiting for notice of any revised security measures, which may be ordered by the United Kingdom authorities.

However, passengers from the Island connecting with flights to the United States are being advised to contact their airlines about any additional checks at UK airports.

British Airways has imposed a limit of one piece of hand luggage on its flights to the US and passengers taking presents in their luggage are being warned they may have to unwrap them during security checks.

Al Qaida says it was behind the failed attack on a flight to Detroit, for which a Nigerian national has been charged.
