Tynwald mileage claims revealed

A total of over £50,000 has been paid to members of the House of Keys and Legislative Council for mileage expenses during the past three years.

Details have emerged in a written answer to a Tynwald question, which shows a steady decline in sums claimed since 2006.

Over £25,000 was claimed in the financial year 2006/07, compared with just over £13,000 in 2008/09.

The member with the largest claim was Rushen MHK Quintin Gill, with over £10,000 for the three years.

The lowest sum, just over £180, is alongside the name of Onchan MHK Adrian Earnshaw.
