Two people questioned after stabbing

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Howard Street, Douglas.

They say the victim admitted himself to hospital with injuries to his torso which were serious, but not life threatening.

A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were arrested in connection with the incident, and have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police aren't looking for any other suspects, but are keen to talk to anybody who was in the area of Howard Street and Strand Street in the two hours from 11pm last Friday.

The assault happened at around midnight.

Officers are looking for information about a group of around five people, one of whom was wearing a distinctive yellow football T-shirt.

They are especially keen to speak to a teenager or young man who they think may have witnessed the assault. The potential witness was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.

Two young men, thought to be Filipino, are also believed to have been in the vicinity. Police say they may have spoken to members of the group following a scuffle in the area of the former Woolworth store.

Anybody with information which could assist the enquiry team is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
