Turnip shortage for Hop-tu-Naa

If you want to carve a turnip for Hop tu Naa later this month, get hold of one and hang onto it!

That's the message from Manx National Heritage, which is appealing to the public to save one of the main events at it's traditional celebration at Cregneash on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday,. October 28.

Traditionally, children are invited to carve turnip lanterns at Cregneash, but due to the year's awful weather the crop has failed.

That's left a severe shortage of turnips for Hop tu Naa later this month.

Public Services Manager at Manx National Heritage Howard Parkin is asking people to bring their own vegetables:
