Trial for Douglas man who denies indecently assaulting child

23-year-old charged with four offences

A Douglas man will stand trial after denying indecently assaulting a child.

Thomas Duncan Keith Murphy, of Alder Road, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he entered not guilty pleas to four offences.

The 23-year-old allegedly assaulted the 13-year-old girl between 19 March and 10 April.

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery – will take place on 14 December; he’s been bailed until that date.

 

Update: At the Court of General Gaol Delivery on 2 February Mr Murphy entered not guilty pleas to the four offences before the higher court. A five-day trial will start on 12 August; he's been bailed until that date.

Update: Following trial Murphy was found guilty of three offences of indecent assault. The jury recorded a not guilty verdict on one count. He will be sentenced on 30 September.

Update: Murphy is now due to be sentenced on 28 October.
