Tourist events face cost-benefit analysis

Government funded events for tourists will come under much closer scrutiny in future, to ensure they give value for money and benefit the Manx economy.

That's the way forward, according to Minister for Economic Development Allan Bell.

A study released on Monday concluded TT 2010 was worth £19 million to the Island.

Mr Bell says that's a good return for the government's net spending on the event, of £2.75 million.

It was one of the most comprehensive surveys ever into the number of TT visitors and what they spend, and Mr Bell says other events funded by the taxpayer will be given a similar cost-benefit analysis:
