Tourism aims to boost economy

Tourism bosses are hoping joined-up thinking by government and the private sector will boost the Island's economy in 2015.

A Visitor Economy Strategic Group held regular meetings last year, giving hoteliers and carriers a voice in shaping future policy.

The Isle of Man's official tourism website received 100,000 hits per month during the year, while one million e mails were sent to potential and past visitors.

Twenty five cruise ships gave booked to visit the Island this season and already six are planning to call here in 2016.

A revised strategy to expand the visitor economy is due out later this year.

Director of Tourism Angela Byrne says the market has become fiercely competitive
