A Peel teenager has been jailed for three years for causing the death, by dangerous driving, of a 14-year-old girl from Onchan.
Eighteen-year-old Craig Bridgewater was driving on the Switchback Road near Peel in March when he crashed a car, killing passenger Lucia Porter.
The court this afternoon (Monday) heard Bridgewater was of ‘good character’ with no ‘previous convictions’ and counsel accepted he had not been driving more than 40 mile per hour on the night of the crash.
Deemster Alistair Montgomerie addressed the court for 25 minutes before sentencing Bridgewater to prison and imposing a five year driving ban.
