Telemedicine offers hope to ME sufferers

Keys told care pathway still to be agreed

Providing expert advice to ME patients using telemedicine techniques could offer hope to 300 sufferers in the Island.

The suggestion was made in the Keys today by Ramsey MHK and GP, Dr Alex Allinson - who said consultations carried out remotely with specialists in the UK would spare those with the condition an exhausting journey off-Island.

Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft said the idea would be considered for the future - once a care pathway is agreed for those with ME or chronic fatigue syndrome.

Mrs Beecroft admitted there's currently no funding for developing ME services - but told Keys telemedicine could be an effective way to help patients:
