Tax cap attracts some new residents

Twenty-five adults have moved to the Isle of Man as a result of the £100,000 tax cap, Treasury Minister Allan Bell has revealed.

In a written answer to a Tynwald question from North Douglas MHK John Houghton, Mr Bell said those involved were people who qualified for the income tax incentive and their partners, if they had one.

He said 17 of the 25 qualified for the cap and stressed that, in addition to the tax, the new residents contributed to the Island's economy by paying for homes, goods and services.

In response to another part of Mr Houghton's question Mr Bell (pictured) said Treasury hadn't published any estimates in relation to the policy since it was launched.
