Tax avoidance allegations a 'complex area'

ICIJ claims to have evidence

The practice of importing business jets to the European Union through the Isle of Man has been a labelled an area of 'incredible complexity', amid allegations of tax dodging.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists claims to have evidence of abusive VAT avoidance taking place on Island, but is yet to produce its findings.

Editor of Corporate Jet Investor, Alasdair Whyte, says Manx regulations are exactly the same as the UK, but VAT rules on aircraft leasing arrangements are 'notoriously' convoluted.

He explains the 'business friendly attitude' of Manx customs and excise officials means buyers are more likely to import via the Island.

But Mr Whyte told Manx Radio the matter is far from simple:
