Suspended jail term for bouncer assault

A man who assaulted a bouncer outside a Douglas nightclub has escaped immediate custody after being given a suspended sentence.

Bleddyn Wyn Jones of Hilary Road, Douglas admitted a charge of affray.

He got involved in an argument with security and other people outside Colours on Douglas promenade, after being refused entry on a night in April.

Jones started a fight and assaulted one of the door staff, after being told he was too drunk to come in.

His advocate said Jones joined in an incident rather than instigating it and regretted getting involved.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle said it was a serious matter, but he would accept that Jones didn't start the trouble.

He gave Jones a four month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
