Survey to tackle homophobic bullying

Is bullying a major problem?

Youngsters who have been bullied over their sexuality at school are being invited to take part in an Island-wide survey.

It has been launched by the Manx Rainbow Association, which campaigns on behalf of the Island's lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender - or LGBT - community.

The group is concerned that many youngsters find little support at school, when they decide to tell others they are gay - and are bullied or teased by their peers.

The anonymous online survey asks pupils their age, which school they attend, and to describe their experiences.

They'll also be asked if they approached teachers and, if so, what help they were offered.

Association spokesman Lee Vorster says the exercise aims to establish how big a problem bullying is:
